Nothing Can Stop You With Tom at Your Side Dec 16, 2009
By Linda Chappo What I like about this book is the technology and personal support Tom Marcoux offers you all along the way. He covers a lot of topics so you will be sure to find solutions for most anything that holds you back. Two important areas to me are getting started and procrastination. He teaches you how to Build Your Castle, which helped me clarify my dream and stay in touch with my feelings so I don't waver. There is also a section on procrastination that helped me to continue to build momentum. With Tom's practical guidance, I feel I can finally move forward without the blocks that have held me back in the past.

A Detailed Roadmap For Success Jan 27, 2010
By John Chancellor
"Mentor coach"
Nothing Can Stop You This Year! Is a complete roadmap, a comprehensive guide to success.
The book is fairly long at 351 pages, however it is a very friendly read. The book is designed for ease of reading, with lots of white space and a very good layout. Do not let the length keep you away from this book.
The book is very comprehensive and covers the major things that get in the way of success. Tom Marcoux gives the reader plenty of systems and strategies to achieve whatever they set their heart to. There are plenty of exercises, worksheets and questions for the reader to actually do.
The book is well organized and the actions Tom recommends are a process. Tom gives an explanation of what should be done and then a process for taking action. This is one of the real values of this book - the process. Having general knowledge about some subject is not enough. If you are going to be unstoppable, you need to take specific action. Tom generally gives a process and uses an acronym to make the process easier to remember. For example, to get physically fit, Tom recommends the GREAT process. G -Get clear about what you want, your desired goal, R- Reform your exercise program, E - empower your eating, A - Align your food and T - transform the inner you.
There are literally dozens of such processes in the book.
After each discussion, there is a principle that summarizes succinctly the point of the discussion. Then Tom provides a powerful question. Answering these powerful questions is an extremely valuable exercise.
Tom covers everything you need to work on to have your best year ever. He gives a process for leveraging your time. He gives the reader a process for easing through the barriers that have been holding you back. He goes into great detail for how to build your personal brand. Throughout the book are very thought provoking questions and exercises to help you become unstoppable.
Tom provides the tools you need. Unfortunately, you have to provide the work. He is very clear, there is no magic. He tells you what you need to do, it is up to you to do it.
There are plenty of very good quotes scattered throughout the book.
There are two other topics that I feel Tom did a rather good job on. One is discussing the difference between results goals and effort goals. Far too many people set results goals and are disappointed when they are not achieved. Tom says we need to pay more attention to effort goals. Often we have no control over the results and certainly the timing of the results. But we have total control over the effort we put into achieving any goal. Hoping for results without putting in the effort is wishful thinking. Having someone set results goals for us can be very discouraging. A sales manager may set results goals for the staff. The staff does not have total control over the actual sales volume. They do have control over the number of calls, proposals, etc. that they make. A very good distinction.
The other very notable discussion that is missing from many self-help books is the discussion of non resistance, non attachment and non judgment. So much of our emotional pain is a result of our resistance to what is, our attachment to things/ideas and our judgment of how things should be. When we learn to give up resistance, attachment and judgment our lives become much easier. Thing naturally flow our way.
A very good resource for those who truly want to have a more successful life. Tom supplies the tools, if you do the exercises, follow the processes, apply what you learn, you will be unstoppable.
