Nowish- a brilliant memoir May 17, 2009
By C. Saxena Alice Mead's new memoir 'Nowish' weaves the brilliance of Virginia Woolf and the richness of Chabon, with the dark fascination of Pulitzer Prize Winning author Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road'. Following her mind as it traces its many journeys- sometimes singular and sometimes in parallel with each other is a spell-binding, shocking and tragic experience, and yet she manages to pierce a light through it all, making her irrepressible exuberance for life, for compassion and activism shine through. A must read for everyone, especially the entire medical establishment as well as for people who are old and for those who will one day be. For those who take care of others and for those who are cared for. And a whistle blower for the Assisted Living Establishments across the United States. Attorney General's offices, please take notice. It is above everything else- an amazing book from a Nowish mind. - C. Saxena

Fresh, Eye-Opening Memior from Maine Author Apr 10, 2009
By Christina Alice writes poignantly about her experience of becoming suddenly and seriously disabled. A creative 50-something finds herself seeking to recover from multiple illnesses, while living in a facility for the aged and dying.
She gives a voice to the struggles of the ill and elderly that we all know- who are confined to nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Her transparent memoir is at the same time entertaining, lighthearted, and tragic. A `must read' for families, caregivers and friends of the chronically ill and elderly.
