A beautiful parenting book with substance Feb 04, 2009
By Georgia Kristen Hobby, through her novel- `Nurturing a Gentle Heart' has not only helped me to further understand and connect with my own child, but through her writing she has also showed me enlightenment within my own adult life.
'Nurturing a Gentle Heart' is finally a parenting book with substance and beauty. It provides us with the resources to begin the wholesome and peaceful journey of discovery into our childrens world of imagination, wonder and spirituality. It helps us to provide our children with the skills to find and develop their own inner peace and to help them grow into caring and self aware adults.
The meditations written by Kristen Hobby have been written with beautiful simplicity. Having meditated myself for many years I was unsure how my own preschooler would find the concentration and inner ability to meditate along side me. How I under-estimated his little (big!) mind!! I was astounded to see how he responded to the meditations and suggestions within `Nurturing A Gentle Heart'.
A must for all parents and carers alike.
I hope to see more of Kristens work in the future!!

What every parent needs Feb 28, 2010

I have heard it said that our children today are more stressed than the children from a century ago, and the stress is related to the high levels of interaction with technology and low levels of interaction with humans or family. So this book can be the answer to lowering that stress not only in your children but in yourself as well.
The book is filled with ideas for talking with your children (not to them), for active listening and real ccnversation, and activities you can do together. If your child is old enough to talk - say 3 years old - then he or she is old enough for real conversation if the parent will just be attentive long enough.
Filled with examples, stories, quotes, and activities, and questions for adult personal reflection - I highly recommend this book for all parents, but it is also excellent for anyone working with small children and wanting to create a positive outlook on life and good morals like kindness, forgiveness, courage, peacefulness, etc. Excellent, just really, really excellent!
