Objet d'Art (Monstrance, Book 1)

Short Description: Made of pure platinum and encrusted with jewels, the Jackson-Bonet Monstrance is a spectacular religious relic, designed to exhibit the Holy Eucharist for the adoration of the faithful. Its value is immeasurable, so when it is stolen from the vault of a small Catholic monastery and college, local, state, and federal law enforcement converge on the peaceful Oklahoma campus. To add insult to injury, the college's beloved president, Fr. Xavier Kettering dies within hours of the theft. Is it just a tragic coincidence? Or did someone set out to create a diversion in order to steal the monstrance? Initial suspicion falls on the museum's former curator, a devastatingly handsome Benedictine monk named Brother Michelangelo. The first of a four-book series, Monstrance I: Object D'Art is a compelling, sometimes shocking novel based in part on true crimes and actual events, but written as fiction. All characters appearing in this work are fictitious.

1does not measure up to jjk's hype  Sep 23, 2010

Most of it, especially the more soft core porn elements make no sense at all. It certainly isn't character driven and the story lays there like a bored ... monk. He compares it to the DaVinci Code and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil but it's more like Romper Room with some Catholic sexual abuse thrown in. John is obviously trying to tell us something but I think it is more about personal experience than a good story. It borders on pornography and reads like a cheap skin flick. What were they thinking?

1It Falls Flat. It's just not interesting.  Sep 03, 2010
By Lady of the cove.
I wanted to take an honest look at this and see what was going on. He is an incredibly creative about his own life and stories about himself and his "family" From what I have read, none of that has made its way into this book. It really falls flat. He describes things without any sense of involvement or common sense and lacks any style to pull it all together. At one point it felt like someone's old letters that included facts but nothing to make it interesting ... as if writing on a postcard with limited space. It's 378 pages long. Ne usually comes across as bigger than life but this book just doesn't work.

1Stunningly Boring!!  Sep 08, 2010
By Beezak
This is book didn't take long before it became a bore. The story is flat and never goes anywhere. Very unimaginatively written. Very elementary. Poorly written. Do not waste your time with this one.

1Comic Book without the Art  Sep 03, 2010
By Angelo Schiano
There's not a lot going on in this book. It is radically incomplete. The nameless editors he thanks in the acknowledgements obviously didn't have a lot to work with. It's like a cheap comic book without any artwork. He takes a lot of liberties with the English lauguage, European sayings and basic common sense. What amazes me most is that he worked on this for so many years (over 10) and this is the best he could come up with? No wonder no one would publish it. I also got ripped off on the "Whale Magic Project" movie. I later found out that he had that for over 10 years and did nothing to develope that either. After having read his incompletre scripts and this self published incoherent manuscript, I would say that the only thing John Joseph Kennedy could put together is another scam to get peoples money.

1I Couldn't Get Throught It.  Aug 28, 2010
By Car Buff in Wilmington
[...] I have to say, it didn;t make much sense to me. I couldn't get through it either and the strange thing is I too thought the Introduction was the best part. Once I got into the book I felt it kind a dragged on and seemed unexciting. As much as I hate this guy, I expected more because he is really creative. Especially when it comes to creating his past and who he is. As for "Jen Erik" (not very original), Yep! that's John. I know it. All in all it's pretty bad but then again, so is John Kennedy. [...]
