One World One God

This work has been written for the glorification of the solitary, non-sectarian God above all worldwide titular deities. The vision of this insuperable cosmic force is seen through secular and spiritual lenses, using a faith/reason approach in giving "Unto religion that which is spiritual, and unto science those biblical proclamations which have been trumped by science.” The author does not concur that every word in the Bible is the sacrosanct Word of God, nor that such miracles as the Immaculate Conception, feeding the five hundred and raising Lazarus, etc. actually occurred as recorded. Rather, it is postulated by the author that those Old Testament compilations of ancient Hebrew lore by the first century scribes and prophets, so eloquently dramatizing their fifteen hundred year legacy, has filtered down by oral transmition through the twelve tribes - dating back from the days of Abraham and Sarah. The New Testament, while written in the highly imaginative prose of the first century, lacks depth in providing virtually little, if any, biographical data on the life of Jesus Christ, who left no writings of his own for posterity to corroborate the portrayal of his words, thoughts and deeds during the last three years of his life. As these are related so devotedly and passionately by the Evangelists of the Four Gospels and the Epistles of Saint Paul, there can be little doubt that these expressions of faith were driven by strong belief in what they were writing. While much in the Gospels hangs upon fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, we have a series of incidents in the travels of Jesus and his quoted words (particularly his parables) that must have been grounded in fact, there are other areas where fact may well have been partly subordinated to embellishment by the fertile imaginations of the chroniclers.

This is a book that needed to be written, and Richard Comstock Lewis is obviously the perfect person to write it. He lays to rest any argument that one cannot believe in God and also in evolution, and he uses the Bible to support his points. I loved the fact that he gave average readers like me some background on people like Aristotle and introduced me to new terms like "Ontologism," the belief that humans have an intuitive God knowledge that is the basis of all other knowledge. I enjoyed the history in the book, especially about the Gnostics and the Gnostic gospels. In short, I would highly recommend this book to any reader who ever questioned the Genesis creation story and is interested pursuing the truth about our existence here on Earth.

I have just finished reading "One World One God." It is fascinating! From just looking at the Bibliography, it is obvious that extensive research has been done (I've read "How To Know God" by Deepak Chopra) Mr. Lewis has definitely opened my eyes and mind to the "Theory of Evolution" as being a natural act of God. I, like the author, believe in the one non-sectarian God as our creator many billion years ago, and do question the biblical chronology of Creation as depicted in six twenty-four hour days posited in Genesis. This never did sound believable to me.

Mr. Lewis has definitely put the events in their logical and proper prespective. I can't envision anyone, after reading this book, who would "not hop on Mr. Lewis' bandwagon." In addition, his vocabulary is astounding (think I've worn out my Webster's).

I feel enriched in being allowed to take advantage of such penetrating insights. I have already purchased a copy for my sister. I'm sure she will be stimulated. BRAVO!!
