5Our Chemical Lives and the Hijacking of our DNA  Jan 04, 2010
By Tracy Roberts
From the Industrial revolution and onward, the world has become an environment that is overflowing with dangerous toxins. Mass manufacturing has resulted in thousands of chemical pollutants being released in the atmosphere, water, and soil. As well, there has been a widespread increase of chemicals being added to almost every type of food and retail product. With this overwhelming chemical exposure, there has been an increase in research and studies showing the life threatening impacts on our health and well being. In her book, `Our Chemical Lives and The Hijacking of our DNA,' author Catherine J Frompovich, delves into the effects of a chemical laden world on the body at a cellular level.

Frompovich presents an in-depth analysis supported by research on how chemicals enter the body and penetrate cellular nuclei causing permanent damage and eventual death of the cell resulting in DNA mutations. These mutations have evolved to change our cellular structure making us susceptible to a wide range of diseases.

Frompovich describes how chemicals break down the body's cells causing cellular mutation. She details how such chemicals as pesticides, herbicides, man-made preservatives and additives, and much more, result in such conditions as obesity, increased neurological disorders, respiratory disease, heart disease, cancer, birth defects, endocrine disruption, immune system damage...etc. The author goes into great detail educating the reader about the effects of very powerful and toxic chemicals on our body systems. One important revelation from the book is that many of today's diseases can be linked to our chemically driven lifestyles. This may mean that we can drastically reduce many illnesses by reducing chemical exposure in our everyday lives.

Within the book is an extensive list of chemicals and the impact they have on our health when they accumulate in the body. Her information is supported by important research and statistics. She states, "Man-made chemicals don't coincide with nature's templates" and "What can we do about chemical companies penchant and rationale for constantly exposing us to toxic products in every phase of modern life and living?" Not only will readers learn how we became such a toxic society, but also how to adopt a healthier lifestyle by reducing our exposure to products that contain man-made chemicals.

`Our Chemical Lives and the Hijacking of our DNA' is an important "wake up call' about the current and future state of our toxic environment and what will happen if important changes are not made. Not only is it highly educational, the attention to detail makes the book a handy health resource tool. It is highly recommended to not just mass readers, but also to politicians, manufacturing industry officials, and health professionals.

Tracy Roberts, Write Field Services.

5An intriguing read, and a top pick  Feb 08, 2010
By Midwest Book Review
Chemicals are in everything, and could that be the problem? "Our Chemical Lives and the Hijacking of Our DNA: A Probe Into What's Probably Making Us Sick" is one woman's personal investigation into the modern American diet and medicine, as Catherine J. Frompovich does her own research and offers many opinions on the infusion of chemicals and toxins to many levels of life. "Our Chemical Lives and the Hijacking of Our DNA" is an intriguing read, and a top pick.
