Out of the Comfort Zone Nov 27, 2007
By Todd Wingrove Anyone who ever had the opportunity to experience playing college ball or participate in a fraternity will love it. It's been over 20 years since I graduated; yet this book brought back memories like they were yesterday and allowed me to reminisce about the type of camaraderie I have never experienced since. A must read for anyone who remembers the college experience as some of the best years of there life.

Back to the Comfort Zone Jan 02, 2009
By Daniel A. Cotter Frank Agin has done an outstanding job of describing what it is like to play football at the D3 level, where the term "scholar athlete" is an appropriate label. I too went to a Midwest Conference school, Monmouth, and played during the mid-80s. The life on campus, the personalites and the friendships built and that last to this day are all like reflected in Frank's book. A highly entertaining read and highly recommended, especially to those that played at the small college level. My good friend from Monmouth bought the book for me for Christmas, and I read most of it on New Year's Day, enjoying every page and reminiscing about the "good old gridiron days."

A Must Read! Nov 20, 2008

When I first saw this book I was more than interested in reading it since I too played at a DIII school and on top of that played at Knox, a school in Beloit's conference. I finally purchased the book and due to work schedule, travel, and home life I just did not have the opportunity to get to it as quick as I would have liked. My wife and I headed out to Texas at the end of last week for a wedding and I decided I would take your book and start it on the plane. Well.....once I started I was not able to put it down....and to be honest with you I just finished reading it here at work while at lunch. I think this should be read by anyone who has ever played football for a small college or anyone who has been associated with a football player from a small college. The emotions, relationships, situations and just overall feelings that Frank Agin brought to life in his book are beyond words. I honestly felt like I was back on campus in Galesburg and getting ready for my last year of football. It was so easy to relate to the entire story. I went through surgery just like Foster and I also was in a fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, that was mainly football players. My wife and I met in college so the relationships that the players had with their girlfriends was similar to what my wife and I had. I have read many books over the past few years but I have to say nothing has hit so close to home as this book did. It was thrilling to read it and it left me wanting more. Outstanding book and I will recommend it to everyone I know.

A really enjoyable book. The author, Frank Agin, does a great job in conveying the work, dedication, pain, brotherhood and triumph of the small college student athelete who plays simply for the love of the game. His descriptions of game settings keep you turning the pages. I look forward to his next work!

Inspirational and Entertaining Aug 06, 2008
By L. Eley This was entertaining and educational. I never realized all the dialouge and intimidation that happened on a football field. This book inspires me to work harder in all I do. Watching football will be more interesting too. If you like this book, you may also like Jim Tressel's book, "The Winners Manual for the Game of Life" Go Buc(k)s!
