5Excellent Help for Passing the Current Version of PMP Exam (PMBOK Fourth Edition)  Feb 08, 2010
By GlobalTrainer
I've found this book an excellent help to pass the current varsion of the PMP Exam based on the PMBOK Guide, Fourth Edition. This book contains just enough practice exams that will take just enough of your time to get you through the actual exam successfully. This book contains very realistic questions, right on the mark, from the view point of the actual exam. Each answer is explained in detail, why the right answer is right and wrong answers is wrong; it exposes the weak areas in your preparation.
I also like the bonus features in the book: I really like the exam tips in the begining of the book. These Exam Tips will help you to look at the questions in the actual exam from the right angle. Read these before going through your Study Guide the last time because it enables you to determine what to look for while studying for the exam, in addition to help you pick the right answer in the actual exam. The Quick Exam Prep at the end of the book offers a very quick and meaningful review of the PMBOK Guide. Going through the Quick Exam Prep just before the exam will be very helpful; it will put you in the right mood; all set to go.
In summary:
Pros:
1) Realistic. The questions are very realistic from the view point of the actual exam.
2) Optimal. Just enough number of qeations to get you through the exam (time saver).
3) Right Orientation. The book presents the techniques to help you recognize and handle the questions properly in the exam.
4) Explanations. Answers are explained in detail: why the correct answer is correct and incorrect answrs are incorrect. It refreshes the important points.
5) Quick Exam Prep. A quick review of the PMP exam material is presented at the end of the book that you can quickly go through just before the exam.

In nutshell, I find this book worth lot more than its price.
Highly recommended.

2There are much better preparation books...  Dec 29, 2011

I do not recommend this book.
First of all: There are numerous mistakes in questions such as: Which is NOT part of XY and the answer being: This is correct because it has to be part of XY <--- ?!?!?!?!

Further I have the impression that the questions in the book ask for information that is neither in the PMBOK nor in other study guides - seriously, wtf (however this could only be my subjective impression)?

I even found questions referring to non-existent process groups ("Which of the following is not an output of the direct and manage project execution process?")...

The explanations given for the answers are also not very convincing. Whereas other books give you a detailed summary why certain answers are wrong, this one often only states: A,C,D is wrong because they are not part of XY. Wow, not even mentioning where they belong...

Summary: Go and buy other study guides and exam preps!
