Parallel

It was "just a project". That's what they kept saying, just a college project for a little extra credit in poly-sci class. Brad, Penny, Tony and Mel would simply create a small manageable version of the Federal Government and experience some semblance of the job our elected officials have--It seemed like the right thing to do. What they didn't understand is, government is never small nor manageable, and is often not the right thing to do. It was just a project, until it turned into a monster, outgrowing the imagination of anyone and everyone involved, and as well, outgrowing the comfort zone of some in Congress, who sought opportunity to destroy it. Follow this story of a college project gone wild and see how the founders keep their sanity, while the project becomes the realization of a politician's greatest fear.

5Great Idea - Food for Thought.  Aug 17, 2009
By Jo Rivers
I thought the title was intriguing, and after reading the book I think it is most appropriate. This book was an easy reading style with constant movement throught the plot. I did not get bored. I enjoyed the characters very much - they were believable and interesting. The subject was fascinating, and I found myself growing in surprise, along with the characters themselves as their "project" unfolds. It gives one "food for thought" politically about our U.S. government, the constitution - and how far we might have strayed from it. Although it makes political points and philosophies, there is no bogging down the reader with confusing terminology, over the head politics, or overly boring details.

5Parallel  Feb 11, 2012
By Amanda J. Bergeron "Mandi Bergeron"
Parallel is one book that is timely for us today as we watch our Constitution being consistently dismantled and feel helpless to do nothing to stop it. It's a story about a group of college students, who in the process of learning about government, find the key to constructing a new government that parallel's the current one. I enjoyed this book from start to finish and admire Rae Michael's ability to weave plot with the intellect of how our government operates makes this book a must read for any home schooler, as well as average Joe that wants to learn about political science. This book needs to be in every high school American government class in America.
