Stayed up all night! Jun 27, 2010 Once I started reading "Payback" I could not put it down. Finally after interruptions,(you know I have to go to work), I stayed in Saturday night and read all night. The characters are ones you become friends with and the storyline is mesmerizing, erotic and fast paced. As with DA Welch's book "Flashback" it leaves you waiting for the next adventures of Nate, Eve, Devon, Katie, Olivia, John & Maura. The way she writes is warm, genuine, fun & well researched. I can't wait for the next one!!!!

Payback is the sequel I hoped for Oct 18, 2009 Payback by D.A. Welch is the sequel I had hoped to see after reading Flashback. The book follows the lives of former Navy SEALs Nate Dunlevy and Devon McLean as they continue a covert fight against terrorists. But their lives are not all guts and glory. Like all men who put their pants on one leg at a time, they struggle with relationships involving the opposite sex. Nate, in particular, finds himself at a crossroad in life, one that becomes more complicated when his superior suggests that he may have passed his prime as an elite operative.
As with Flashback, D. A. Welch produced a novel that is difficult to put down once started. Along with strong character development, the author cleverly interjects humor to make this book more entertaining. When plot gets serious, she accurately extrapolates the mind set of extremists. Overall, the story is both enlightening and relevant in today's world.

Another page-turner by D. A. Welch Oct 18, 2009 So glad I'm the first to review another D. A. Welch novel. Being reunited with Nate Dunlevy and other characters from Flashback was my first bonus. Following their adventures beyond the Low Country was the second. While enjoying a series of credible events, I rode a rollercoaster of emotions that are true to the characters D. A. Welch has created. As in Flashback, the author struck a great balance between pathos and humor and kept me entertained page after page.
Although the Payback storyline stands on its own, readers may enjoy the book more if they read Flashback first.
