Pennies from Heaven: Prairie Stories from the Great Depression

My memories as a child and as a teenager during the Great Depression are the basis for one third of the short stories in this book. The rest of the stories originate from interviews with old-timers who moved to BC after living on the prairies during the hard times of the 1930's. In writing these stories I tried to accentuate the lighter side of life, focussing on humour rather than dwelling on the darker aspect of the depression years. Stories about tragedy were kept to a minimum.
