Fantastic Guide to Surviving and Thriving in the Corporate Jungle Jul 30, 2010
By RichW This book is an on point no nonsense guide to navigating the challenges confronted by managers in today's corporate world. The author's ability to use anecdotes to drive home the 7 lessons is excellent. In addition, the approach lends itself to encouraging the reader to take an introspective approach to evaluating their experiences in order to draw from them and create value. I found the lessons to not only be exceptionally well delivered but, even more powerfully I believe the author's technique is one that all professionals can emulate for themselves to seek out the truth and continually evolve and improve. I plan to keep this excellent book very close to my desk and will be referring to it on a regular basis for self help and motivation to examine my interactions and decisions for my own betterment.

Should be required reading for college students before graduation!

Must Read Dec 08, 2008
By Charles E. Dunagan
"Charles D."
"People Do What People Do" is a terrific book and a must read for those who believe that guidance and learning from hands on experience are valuable. It is a "handbook" that should be on the desk or in the briefcase of every leader. Classroom learning is extremely worthwhile and necessary but coupled with learning from real live experience can be a powerful package. "People Do What People Do" can be an important part of the tools of every successful leader.

Tops for HR Tips Oct 18, 2008
By Patricia G. Saunders

Anyone who has worked with Human Resources knows that those jobs are not easy most of the time. George John Schmidt has learned ways to make the best of even the worst situations in his years in HR. Now he shares his experiences in everything, from firing an employee to handling death benefits for an employee's surviving family members. He enhances the practicality of these anecdotes by identifying in which of seven categories the stories might belong and adding his own comments at the ends of the chapters. A fun guide to handling a tough job.
