Picking up the Pieces

Picking Up the Pieces is a fun and heartwarming story that chronicles the lives of five teenaged athletes as they deal with individual hardships and overcome racism, stereotypes, injury, and previous mistakes. There's Petra, a snowboarder, who has grown up in a world of privilege and wealth, yet has never known what it means to have a loving family. And then there’s Shayne, a short track speed skater, who's had to learn some of life's lessons the hard way. Harper spent much of her early childhood going in and out of hospitals. She vowed that if she ever learned to walk, she'd play hockey and now hockey, her one love, seems to be the cause of her injuries. Next is Elena, whose comeback to the skiing world serves as a painful reminder of past mistakes. Finally, there’s Alex, a figure skater living in a world of impossible expectations. While preparing for the Olympics, these five very different girls become an unlikely group of friends as they begin to pick up the pieces of their dysfunctional lives.
