You Will Laugh, You Will Cry....You Will Think Jul 20, 2009
By gemlvr A pink book with a pink boy....YES!! As soon as you meet Tim and begin reading about his journey of self discovery, you want to know him. His experiences of fear, confusion, hurt, intolerance and, believe it or not, humor, become yours as well. I found myself laughing at the rebellion of a red thong, crying when cruelty was expressed through toothpaste, and smiling each time Tim was able to take every negative experience and turn it into something positive. This book is well written and the illustrations add to the feeling that you are right there with Tim every step of the way. It will make you think about your own actions, assess how truly tolerant you are, and give you insight as to how intolerance can affect others. Tim is a truly gentle spirit who shares this part of his life with an honesty that you cannot help but love and respect. Take this journey...you will smile, you will laugh, you will cry, and you will be left wanting more! A must read!

A journey of self-discovery Jul 28, 2009
By Misty C. Schutt This book is an amazing journey of self-discovery suitable for middle-school and above. My 12-year-old was fascinated and full of questions. This book gave me the perfect opportunity to talk openly and frankly about tolerance and acceptance...and how essential self-love is for a healthy world view.

NOT just a picture book--truly a story Jul 16, 2009
By sandy As an educator who stresses tolerance in the classroom, this book will be a must read for my college students. Don't be misled; this is NOT a picture book. It is the story of the innocent struggles of a young man as he comes to terms with being "different." The prose and graphics underscore the pain, while still offering hope to those who are searching for self and self-worth. A quick and powerful read that makes you reexamine your own perceptions of gender.
