Pimwee and Goode Standish

"Pimwee & Goode Standish" is divided into three parts: Pimwee's diary entries, Goode Standish's diary entries, and the descriptions of various moral lessons from their diaries. The book has the following features: open-ended or ambiguous ideas and illustrations onto which readers may project their own attitudes and feelings; the use of abstract as well as representational illustrations to depict events, ideas, and persons; the use of perceptual figure-ground reversals and ambiguous figures to represent the ambiguity and incompleteness in Pimwee's and Goode Standish's experiences; the use of original poetry throughout to describe events in metaphorical ways; the depiction of the development of basic human values, including morality, ethics, freedom, and democracy; and the presentation of a positive and optimistic life-affirming message for living in today's world over a world gone mad with terrorism, violence, destruction, and pessimism.
