Planet of Ice

Incompetence, corruption, and politically motivated decisions left the US Navy's research base on Ganymede a disaster waiting to happen. A handful of individuals survived the inevitable explosions. This story describes their many travails and triumphs, which continued even after their rescue.

5Interesting Storyline  Dec 01, 2006
An engrossing novel of hope and survival under bleak circumstances. The characters are highly developed and the visual imagery is impressive.

5Exciting Science Fiction  Oct 04, 2006
This is an exciting and engrossing novel that kept me spellbound for one solid day's reading. What first interested me was the cover description but what kept my attention was the main character, Captain Robert Jederman. He is quite the realist trapped in a world made by the Navy. Even though this story takes place a hundred years in the future it is a slice of life that really works for today, as well. The Navy is shown to be a potentially dangerous system with its power hungry career "individuals."

The author, David Mohr, has a tremendous talent for describing characters that pop right off the pages before your eyes. He also does a great job with visual descriptions of outer space.

I am recommending this book to all, not just science fiction lovers, and hoping to meet Captain Robert Jederman again, and soon, in a sequal.
