Poetry As Alchemy: Gleanings From My Life

Arthur Solomon offers the reader a perspective on life & living through his sensitive emotional responses that underlie his many lives as a maritime officer at sea during WWII, as a professional actor on the New York stage, & finally, his long career as a professor of communication in the academic world. His poems span the years from early adolescence to his mature philosophic musings on life, love & death in his more recent work. All this is followed by his delightful obsession with Haiku poetry; poems that capture the universal in brief moments of keen perception that suggest so much more than the surface image, allowing the reader to share in the deeper intuitive meanings which is the essence of the Haiku. when man is gone only the stars will remain nameless as before

5A book of poetry and haiku  Dec 02, 2009
By Stardoc
Mr. Solomon has put together an anthology of life's observations, written in a descriptive straightforward style. The images are vivid, the language is abstract but not abstruse.
I especially enjoy the short haiku poems, each of which captures a scene in grand fashion, but in few words.
You will enjoy this book.
