Practical Magic for the Kitchen Witch Jan 14, 2010
By Samantha Lauren This book is very, very thin. 132 pages and I'm surprised there's even that many but it is very useful and informative. There are four parts; the first is sort of a cautionary chapter, about the potential dangers in the use of certain herbs or spices which I appreciated b/c I had no idea allspice could cause inflammation to people with sensitive skin issues (I have mild eczema). Part 2 explains how to prepare herbal remedies, and part 4 is some bonus information on different ingredients. But part 3, the longest part, is what makes this book. I think, for Witches like me who tend to take a more practical, family-oriented and less of a wand-waving and fairy dust approach to magic will appreciate this. I'm a family girl and I'm always concerned about family's well-being and how I can take care of them, so I like that this book contains so many recipes and remedies for everyday things that really matter but we take for granted like a healthy mind and body. I gave it four just b/c I wish there was more to it but I am glad I bought this book.
