Two Thumbs Up (for species with opposable thumbs) May 19, 2009

I don't read a lot of science fiction but a friend bought me the first book in this series, Galactically SpeakingGalactically Speaking and I thought it was a hoot. The sequel, Practically Galactically Speaking is more of an adventure story but with the same satiric edge as the first book. Author Klingenhagen aims for laughs allowing his weird assortment of advanced aliens poke fun at the foibles of human society. The story is a fast-paced race against time and space with several surprising twists and turns and hostile lizards aliens! Who could ask for more? Practically Galactically Speaking is a great summer read if you're headed to the mountains, beach or -- God forbid -- planning to fly somewhere.

Need Some Laughs? Feb 05, 2009
By Madelyn Flammia When I read Klingenhagen's first book, Galactically Speaking, I did something I've rarely done while reading --- I laughed out loud. The story was fast and funny and the plot moved quicker than light speed. I'm glad to say, the sequel, Practically Galactically Speaking, is more of the same. It's fast-paced and hilarious but with a sly, satiric edge to it. The universe the author has created is populated with funny earthlings and even funnier aliens much like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the GalaxyThe Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Practically Galactically Speaking is a high-speed adventure with clever twists and turns that kept me turning pages. I couldn't put it down but I didn't want it to end. The book also answers one of our age-old questions; why haven't aliens contacted Earth? BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO!
A great second book! Feb 01, 2012

Fred Klingenhagen has done it again. A lot of sequels, in books and movies, fall far short in competition with the first. This one takes off where the first one (Galactically Speaking) leaves off, and propels the reader ever deeper into the realms of Fred's world. An adventure unlike any other, through time and space, will leave you laughing on the floor (I fell out of my chair while reading it). Nice work, Fred!

I really enjoyed both books written by Fred. I did enjoy this one more. It is very rare to read a book that can make me laugh out loud. This one did! The characters are interesting and funny. Hope there are more books to come!
