This book had nothing to do with the Rise and Fall of Oldsmobile. It was about a man who lost his dealership ( with the underhandness of G.M. ) and wanted to tell about his misfortunes. This book is not a " keeper "

This is a book that has little if anything to do with the reasons for the fall of the Oldsmobile Division. It deals with Oldsmobile's wish to concentrate dealerships in large auto malls and put independent dealers out of business by establishing competing dealerships nearby. This is what happened to Horvath in 1989 - 15 years before the end of Olds. Horvath feels that this philosophy hastened the end of Olds but if a reader wants to discover why Olds went out of business this is not the book for him. A major portion of the book is filled with copies of legal documents that Horvath filed that are relative to his case against Oldsmobile. It is an interesting book about an established dealer and the shabby way GM treated him and his family but is NOT about the rise and fall of Oldsmobile. As far as I know, no book thus far has documented the final years of Olds and the actions that led to its demise.

A very interesting personal story about a the life of a man whose success grew to be an OLDSMOBILE deal/manager (owner) in the Coral Gables, Florida area.
The dealings of what GM did to ultimately destroy the Oldsmobile name through this one example are shameful.

I brought this book here on Amazon.Com, Sad What Happen To the Author, And To His Dealer, Sad What happen To Oldsmobile. I wish the book would have had pictures of the old days of Cooper Olds in Coral Gables,Florida(Miami), Book is Okay, Filled with Lots of Legal Mumbo Jumbo, And How Maroone Screwed over said Dealer, And Basically Are A Monopoly Now.If you Plan to buy at One Of these "Auto Malls" you should consider this book, If you also want to know about A Particular experience of a Dealer, I recommend it.

If you read Karl D. Spence's review of this book, he hits the nail on the head. This book is nothing about the demise of Oldsmobile but rather about a large corporation trying and successfully destroying a dealership.
It is a boring book to read, half of the book is about court documents. If you want to know more about the demise of Oldsmobile, go to the internet and do some searching. There you will find opinions and information on a very complex disposal of a great automobile company in Lansing, Michigan.
