Water Water Everywhere and not a Pound to Gain! Mar 17, 2010
By Grady Harp Georgina Salgado Chavez must be one of the most relaxed good friends one could have. At least that is the way she approaches her writing and communication in QUICK & EASY TIPS TO LOSE WEIGHT. The media is inundating us with the terrifyingly high incidence of obesity in this country today (far worse than in any other country!) and even the First Lady has stepped forward to address this pandemic. But how many people sit and read these statistics while snacking on chips and other toxic products that line the shelves of our stores and AM/PM minimarts?
What this author presents are not only statistics that scare the fats out of you, but she also settles in carefully describing how to become aware of just what is toxic and what is healthy. This book is not just about food, it is about he atmospheres in which we live and work and relax. How does her system work? Simply by being informed. And the way in which Chavez informs us is so readable - and memorable - that she likely will gain a following that just may end our downward fall into countrywide obesity. The long list of 'Tips' begins with a section on Water and how important this simple solution is in maintaining not only our weight but our health. And the following list of Tips deserves placement on the refrigerator door - and every other place where previously bad habits have transformed into adipose tissue! Grady Harp, March 10
GREAT BOOK ABOUT WEIGHT LOSS Mar 10, 2010
By Melissa I just finished reading Quick and Easy Tips to Lose Weight by G. Salgado Chavez and I found the information presented concise and easy to read. She presented some statistics that I would like to share with you.
* 28% of all Americans have hypertension.
* 64% of people in the US are overweight or obese.
* 1 in 4 children are obese.
* Obesity in children has doubled in the last 10years.
* 1.1million Americans have a heart attack every year.
* 1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men will develop cancer.
* There are more listed in the book.
The book is for any person who has been struggling to lose weight and is looking for a permanent solution to keep the pounds off, and intends to boost their health to optimum levels. These tips are as practical as they are easy to do, and they can help anyone feel better, and gain strength, balance and energy. Written in reader-friendly prose, Chavez's book takes a holistic and modern view of weight loss, addressing stress factors, chemical toxicity, movement and proper nutrition, as well as diet. Whether readers want to shed a few pounds or many, Quick and Easy Tips to Lose Weight is the sensible and effective way to do it.
My Thoughts
I have always been a fan of a book that was concise and easy to read. The book is only 60 pages long and has a lot of worthwhile information in it. There was one section on parasites that was too descriptive but the information presented was correct. Stress affects us every day and there is a chapter in the book that defines the types of stress and how it can affect any age group. There are forty nine tips that are mentioned that can be useful in your weight loss program and everyone who wants to live a healthy lifestyle would benefit from reading this book.
Reading At The Beach: Reviews Feb 22, 2010
By Vicki The title of this book is spot on. It's a thin book, only 60 pages and you can read it very quickly. It's packed full of important statistics and helpful information that is easy to follow.
Some of the statistics in the book are:
1,500 Americans die from cancer every day
1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men will develop cancer
1.1 million Americans have a heart attach every year
28% of Americans have hypertension
64% of the people in the U.S.A. over overweight or obese
Cancer is killing more children than any other disease
By the age of 3, children have fatty deposits in their arteries and by the age of 12 they already have some hardening in the arteries
Obesity in children has doubled in the last 10 years
50% of obese children will remain obese as adults
In the last 10 years, diabetes type 1 in children had increased; type 2 diabetes has increased tenfold
Less than 7% of children and adolescents consume the recommended 2 servings of fruit and 3 servings of vegetables per day
I don't know about you, but these statistics are very scary. The author tells us how to eat, exercise, manage stress, and avoid toxic chemicals in foods and in the environment. If you use her advise, you should lose weight, have energy and get rid of tension. She also tells us what to eat and what to avoid to be as healthy as you can be. My favorite sections of the book were on laughing and meditation, both of which I personally believe are very important, laughing for your health and meditation to de-stress. My least favorite chapter was about parasites, but not because I don't believe what the author had to say, I do. I'm a very visual reader and I didn't like the images I saw in my mind while reading that section. Still, it is a very important part of the book and I don't think health experts talk about it enough.
There are a few recipes at the back of the book and suggestions of what to eat. I haven't tried any yet but plan to, especially the milkshakes, or smoothies as I call them.
There is so much information in this little book and I think everyone who is concerned with their health should read it.
