A UNIQUE CHAKRA TEACHING TOOL Sep 12, 2011
By Becca Chopra Rainbow Eyes starts with a unique new way to look at and understand the chakras - with an introduction to the Chakramid, a pyramid of chakra energy with the Root Chakra forming a strong foundation, ascending up to the higher energy self in the Crown Chakra. It's a wonderful way to quickly understand the properties and functions of our body's energy centers.
The heart of the book is one woman's self discovery as she journeys through the chakras, balances them and, in the process, recognizes her true path in life. She is able to remove the blocks that her unbalanced energy centers had previously placed in her way.
The book ends with more info on the 7 chakras and Chakramid Journal pages for you to record your own personal reflections. What a wonderful tool for self-discovery and growth! I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to find their life's purpose, or simply to manifest their dreams more easily. As Shaffer writes, "How quickly something manifests depends upon the alignment of all of the Chakras."
Namaste! Becca Chopra, author of The Chakra Diaries

A choice read for metaphysical spirituality readers Jul 08, 2010
By Midwest Book Review Perfection is a hopeless dream, but hope comes from realizing perfection is imperfect. "Rainbow Eyes: Chakramid Reflections" is a spiritual memoir as Mary Jo Shaffer tells her story of the Chakra pyramid and how it helped her gain an appreciation about who she was and how they helped her health immensely, helping her reach a greater potential and happiness. "Rainbow Eyes" is a choice read for metaphysical spirituality readers.
If you are open to the concept of chakras, this book provides a unique experience of education and self-study May 14, 2010

NOTE: I received a review copy of this book directly from the author.
Chakra, which is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel, is a term used for seven energy centers within the body. Each chakra is associated with a specific color as well as with specific types of functioning. In order to obtain maximal physical and psychological health, each chakra must be "balanced," beginning with the 1st chakra, which fosters a sense of being grounded, all the way up the 7th chakra, which is associated with a connection to the universe. In this book, author Mary Jo Shaffer envisions the seven chakras as being levels of a pyramid, or Chakramid. The first four chakras--which also represent the four elements--form the base of the pyramid and also what Shaffer terms the first "Power Pack," and the last three chakras, commonly referred to as the "Golden Triangle," form the second Power Pack.
In her Introduction, Shaffer briefly reviews the above concepts. The main body of the book, however, is written more in the style of a novel. Here Shaffer presents the story of Jessica, a young woman who is obviously dissatisfied with her life. When she receives a mysterious invitation for an all-expenses paid trip to an "exclusive penthouse," Jessica jumps at the chance, thinking that this is a rare opportunity for her to be pampered. But her arrival at the stark, pyramid-shaped building is not at all what she expected; upon entering the building, Jessica is both confused and angry to find herself in a windowless white room adorned by only a red stripe around the perimeter. This, of course, is representative of the 1st chakra. With the help of various prompts and guides (there is definitely a fantasy element to this story), Jessica gradually begins to understand the significance of the chakras and to view her own life in a renewed light (or, you might say, through "Rainbow Eyes"). She sees just how much of her unhappiness was due to her misperceptions or even outright distortions of reality, and she comes to realize that the power to make positive changes lies within.
As someone who practices yoga regularly, I have an interest in the chakra system, and I thought that the parable used in this book was a uniquely engaging way to learn more about it. I enjoyed reading Jessica's story, which I found both interesting and relatable, although I did find that a few parts got a bit repetitive over time (for example, at virtually every meal, Shaffer makes a point of saying how Jessica eats ONLY until she is satisfied--ok, ok, we get it). This would certainly be a good beginner's introduction to the chakras for any woman (I don't see Jessica's story appealing as much to male readers) wanting to learn more about balancing the chakra system.

By Yvonne Phillips FSII Rainbow Eyes Chakramid Reflections captured me immediately! What a warm, well written book on chakra's. Mary Jo Shaffer created such a wonderful fantasy starting with an invitation. She can send me an invitation anytime!
The Journey that Jessica, the main charactor, goes on is so real. You can see exactly where she is going on each stage of the "elevator." It takes her to different floors, but not really different floors and she is enlighted on her previous life experiences. She is shown the way others have viewed a situation and also she is shown the view she chose to take.
I have sent this book title to several of my friends for them to purchase. It is a great addition to your libray of enrichment, I highly recommend it.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Apr 11, 2010
By Stacey Pierce Rainbow Eyes is a work of visionary fiction based on one woman's journey to a Chakra Energy Awakening. Chakra is defined as a "wheel" or "circle." The author suggests that, balanced Chakra "creates a free-flowing subtle energy network in your body that promotes physical and mental health, vitality and harmony, as well as spiritual and psychological awareness and energy." In short, to me, Chakra is being comfortable in one's space. Jessica, the main character, who is not in a particularly good place in her life spiritually and psychologically, accepts an invitation for an all expense paid trip to an exclusive penthouse. Unsure of her destination, Jessica tossed a few items into a suitcase without giving much thought to the contents. She has no idea what to expect or where the invitation even came from. Upon her arrival to the address on the invitation, Jessica sees a large pyramid that she assumes may be a casino. She becomes upset and confused standing in the empty parking lot but enters the building anyway.
Once she enters the building she rides the elevator looking for someone to give her direction. The elevator doors open to a large white empty room. She is the only person there. Jessica's frustration increases and is combined with fear as she rapidly pushes buttons to return downstairs. Despite her efforts, the elevator won't budge thus catapulting Jessica on her Chakra Journey.
Rainbow Eyes is informative and explains each Chakra in detail via Jessica's journey through the Chakra Pyramid and her new beginning. She journey's through each of the seven Chakra's. This book gives the reader insight into their personal journey as well. The journal pages in the back of the book with the definitions of each Chakra outlined in the appendix is an added bonus. This allows the reader to align with Jessica travelling on their own personal journey.
I have read self-help books before and have never truly understood them in the way that I did this one. The fact that the book is interactive in nature promotes a better understanding in the reader as their journey parallels with Jessica's. I highly recommend this book to anyone stepping out on a personal journey to release or find their Chakra energy. The fact that there is an underlying story--Jessica's journey--behind the lesson on the Chakra energy awakening disguises the fact that this is a self-help book. Although self-help books are informative and interesting, this author guides the reader to a personal transformation when its least expected. This is a clear reflection of her amazing storytelling ability because the reader sets out reading about Jessica's journey and before long, gets lost on their own journey. Well done!!
