5Wow! Wow! Wow!  Mar 13, 2009
From wishes turned into words turned into actions, the characters in Reckless Indifference set in motion chillingly plausible chains of events that ultimately plunge them into the darkest of outcomes. Think it couldn't happen to you? Veazey's cleverly crafted story of lies, omissions, circumstance and half truths will make you think twice! A fabulous read!

5Engaging!  Feb 27, 2009
Julie has done it again. I really enjoyed her latest book, "Reckless Indifference." Wonderfully constructed and hard to put down. I read it in just three evenings --- a record for me, a slow reader. And, it even ended "right!" We're looking forward to her next offering.

5A riveting story of the everyman's challenge against the world  Feb 12, 2009
No one ever got ahead being a saint. "Reckless Indifference" follows the story of Eric Nordblum, a law-abiding citizen of small town America. Eric's world is turned upside down when he finds himself the accused of a crime he didn't commit, and the web grows thicker as it seems the system wants to discard him as fodder for one cop's ambitions. A story of crooked cops and crooked systems, "Reckless Indifference" is a riveting story of the everyman's challenge against the world.

4Lively Book Discussion Read!  Jan 20, 2009
Julie Bigg Veazey has given us another edge of your seat page turner.
This book was chosen for a discussion for the Chester Public Library's Book Club. It was helpful to have the discussion questions in the back of the book! Many in the group questioned just who it was that was guilty of Reckless Indifference, maybe not whom you would think upon first reading the book. The discussion also managed to give some members a change in their point of view from their original reading of the story. There is much to discuss in this novel and the scariest part is, though this is a work of fiction, the situation and the outcome are not far-fetched at all. Showing a disregard for integrity and the "golden rule" can have chilling consequences.

5A Satisfying Turn of Events  Jan 19, 2009
The real meaning of "Reckless Indifference is clearly defined in this story. Even though it begins with a jewelry heist in New Jersey, the story switches to the emotional interplay of the suspect & the police, along with that of the suspect & his family. Poor Eric Nordblum; he didn't deserve the treatment he got fom the cops, Tony & Bernie. Ms. Veazey called it reckless indifference; I call it torture in the worst form of mental anguish.
I really liked the comeuppance Tony the cop received in Court at the end for his reckless indifference to Eric throughout the story. I only wish his dad, the mayor, & a couple of other unsavory cops took Tony Deluca's lead & headed to the nearest bridge.
Being accused of commiting a crime you didn't do is bad enough, but adding reckless indifference to it is in itself criminal. Julie Bigg Veazey clearly illustrated both. My hat's off to her for this well written novel.
