Relational Presentation Dec 20, 2007 Relational Presentation - A visually interactive approach - Condensed Edition for PowerPoint 2007
I have been reading this book: Relational Presentation by Robert A. Lane and Chantal Bosse
What a bad move that was!
Because this is a book to do, not a book to read.
If you want to move beyond bullet points, then this is where you can start. This is the "how-to". The tone of the book is constantly encouraging and it will give you the practical details at the level you need, whether you are a beginner, or already a user. I enjoyed the detail on creating effects - the information is there for you to use powerpoint to create stunning rich media effects.
But the revolution in this book lies in the concepts of creating a database of material to use wthat will give you an incredibly powerful flexibility when you present. We no longer need to be constrained by a linear slide show. Be free to pull up the slides that will support your responses to questions, change the whole direction of the presentation based on your assessment of audience needs. Here is the opportunity for speakers to "relate" to the audience in all of the ways that they could before they were bound by the traditional bullet point use of powerpoint.
There is a wealth of material supporting the strategic thinking and structural dynamics that support this concept, but to me, the strength of the book lies in two things:
the reassurance that this powerful use of powerpoint can be implemented with confidence
and the practical detail that suppports it.
