Representing Texas represents us all Mar 18, 2008
By James Representing Texas is a compendium of biographies of the men and women who have represented Texas in the United States and Confederate congresses. These biographies include each representative's birth, education, marriages, family, profession, elections, congressional record, and death records including burial site. There are also images for all but four of those who served. In addition to the biographies, there are lists of U.S. Senators by succession, U. S. Representatives by district, Representatives and Senators to the Confederate Congresses, Confederate Congressional Districts by county, Confederate Congress session dates, U.S. Congress session dates, and U.S. Congressional Districts by county. A complete set of U.S. Senator election returns and U.S. Representative election returns from Texas completes the work. Also included is a bibliography. The work was completed following interviews with living ex-members of Congress and current, sitting members of Congress from Texas. This work is the only one to address the topic specific to Texas and is a valuable reference for any Texas library and any history or political researcher. Those who have been representing Texas have truly been representing each of us.
A Useful Book, Thank Goodness May 28, 2008

With so many book out there that spout one view or another, it is refreshing to find a good reference book not filled with extraneous "stuff". This book does the job in its simplicity and is useful for the quick and concise information it gives as well as the comprehensive spectrum of Texas politicians covered. I highly recommend this book!!
A Must Have for Texana buffs May 01, 2008
By Mary Texian The only encyclopedia of Texans who've served in the U.S. Congress, from Sam Houston to Charlie Wilson, that I've ever seen. It includes, by Texas political standards, all the rascals, heroes, trail blazers, mavericks (literally) and just plain hard working (and sometimes hard playing) Lone Star staters that we've sent to Washington for better or for worse over our history. There are some wonderful memories of those we've lost over the years, and probably, I expect, some hope and expectation that some will be gone after the next election. I'd recommend it.
