This is The REAL DEAL For Fans Of RANDY RHOADS!!! Dec 17, 2008 I ordered this book hoping for a little more insight on Randy Rhoads, but was amazed with the amount of NEW Light Randy's Teachings sheds on understanding the guitar. This is all told thru one of Randy's Private Lesson Students. You not only get an understanding for his personality and dedication as a musician, you also get Randy's Hand Written lesson plans. As a guitar teacher myself, I found many of Randy's Lessons to be refreshing and another piece of the puzzle Rhoads fans would consider a MUST HAVE! Robert Lafond Jr. Does a fine job of revealing the excellent teacher, musician and human being Randy Rhoads will always be remembered
for. Just get the book already!!!
Not what I was hoping for Nov 22, 2008 I got the email pdf version, which is supposidly the same thing as this book. The first half of the book is just blabbing about the author's life and doesn't present lessons. The 'added bonus' is bogus, it's been like a year and there are no additional lessons online.
If I showed this to my students, they would be confused. They read linear music, and this is good for hand positions and for people who understand movable chords and scales. At least it's just 10 dollars.
Now if someone could go and collect many many lessons from many students, I'd pay good money for that.
Good Memories Sep 07, 2008 Although this book has some really good outlooks on practice, playing music, and life in general it didn't really help me unravel any mysterys to my guitar playing. I was hoping to get an idea of how Randy saw the fretboard and moved around it and I think Robert did a great job with what he had but there are a few missing links. I think it would help to maybe give some examples. Just short ones. Reading through the book is cool for teachers but probably frustrating for someone who's wanting to start out learning to solo on their own.

Excellent Mar 24, 2008 I began listening to the guitar playing of Randy Rhoads since 1981. Since that time I've studied everything I could find about his playing. Unfortunately the material has always been focused on his time with Ozzy Osbourne. I have been thinking for years that it'd be nice to see a study on Randy's development as a player and insight into his thought process.
Thanks to Mr. LaFonde, that day is here. This book shows us the building blocks that Randy Rhoads felt were essential to creating your own style as a player. He gives us insight to what Randy was like as a person as well. As I read through this book and played the examples, I could almost hear the voice of Randy Rhoads explaining what to do. I've been playing guitar for 26 years and this book opened up ideas I'd not considered in all these years.
Thank you Mr. LaFonde for sharing a part of your life with us so we can get to know this musical hero that much better.
A Great, Practical, and Incredibly Helpful Book Mar 24, 2008 I've recently purchased the ebook version of this book a few weeks back and am currently working my way through it. As a HUGE Randy RHoads fan this is a GREAT way to not only learn via Randy's teachings and handwritten notes, but to learn more about him as a person. The lesson plans are very concise and laid out well without being TOO technical. There is a great wealth of information to be learned, and I've been anxionus to site down with my Les Paul and work on my Modes as a result. Kudos to you Robert. Thank You!
