A slice of history that needs to be remembered Jun 14, 2009
By David Eveland
"Big Dave"
This book is a harrowing account of what it was like to be a POW of the Japanese in the Pacific Theatre during WW 11. Mr. Montoya's first hand account of what he and so many others endured is vivid, chilling and ultimately inspirational. It makes one wonder about what it is in human nature that enables us to be so inhumane and at the same time it causes one to marvel at the resiliency of the human spirit. The story of the POW of Japan is one that needs to be remembered. Reading this book is one way to help do so and one will defintiely come away with a deep appreciation of the sacrifices made.

A Privledge to know this story about a gentle man Oct 05, 2009
By Lorraine Z. Milligan I concure with Mr. Eveland's review. I enjoyed reading this story with such a great heart felt feeling. To know Mr. Montoya and his brother make me privledged to know such a gentle spirit could have indured such an incredible/horrific experience and never, ever saw this part of him in his every day life. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for him (even more so). Thank you so much for sharing this experience. I only wish my father would have been able to know this much. He would have loved this story.
