River Children

Two cousins experienced the quirky people, places, events, laughter, innocence, dangers and just plain fun of an enchanting childhood in Kernville, California, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains north of Los Angeles. Sixty years later, Barbara Hinkey and Pat McPherson separately, now together, have chronicled that magical time in the 1940's in the town that disappeared off maps when it made way for the Lake Isabella reservoir; but never out of their memories. Over 80 Photos and illustrations.

5KEY book for history of the Kern River Valley  May 22, 2011
By R. Rowe "FUSSY FOODIE"
Finding good (accurate, well written) history books on small rural areas is often difficult.

If you live in the Kern River Valley (or used to), this book is the 1st one I'd buy.
