Great to keep you on task! Dec 10, 2008

This book was great. The format is so helpful as it is set up so you can easily find the area you may be needing motivation or direction in. These are all common sense measures that can be easily implemented to help you succeed in whatever endeavor you are pursuing. On one hand it is simplistic and basic. On the other, it is great to have all of this in one small, carry along book to refer to. When your pursuit gets too overwhelming you can just read to get you back on track.
An Inspiration for Anyone With a Dream Sep 01, 2011
By Heidiwriter I enjoyed reading Monte's book very much. I think this is an excellent basic blueprint for anyone who is looking to define a goal and pursue a dream.
The cover synopsis says it so well: "Success is up to the individual. No one cares whether we succeed or fail; it's up to us. Each individual defines success for himself or herself. Don't let others influence your opinion of your success. You know what you want, you set the goal, and you assess the results."
Well done, Monte!

This short, easy-to-read, motivational book is chock full of sage advice from champion rodeo team roper, Monte Alkire. Although anyone would benefit from Monte's wisdom, it's a gem for those of us on the downside of "the hill." Monte didn't begin his roping career until he retired from his position as an engineer for Caterpillar. His can-do attitude and enthusiasm are an example for anyone striving for new goals later in life.
Monte says: "When you choose your goals, you need a clear understanding of whether you're going to jump over a picket fence, a clothesline, or a windmill."
If you have personal or business goals - this is a good book to read. Mar 07, 2009

Great book. Loved the Author's use of similes to help the reader understand his message. Gives examples of his "hits and misses", his thoughts about failure and how he gets back on track to succeed. Very well thought out. Other books drone on and on; put you to sleep. He covers many topics but is short and right to the point - puts it out there and moves on to the next subject. Easy read. As stated by other reviewer, great take-along book to reference again and again to attain goals faster. I can also say that I worked with this man for several years and can vouch for his integrity, honesty, and wisdom. The book is not just talk; this is how he thinks and approached life. He is intense but still a great family man who enjoys life, easy to talk to and fun to be around.
Great Read for Anyone Who is Striving for Success! Nov 22, 2008
By G. Bower This is the type of book you will read straight through the first time. It is quick, easy and very entertaining. Later you can pick it up for a quick motivational fix. The chapters define topics of interest you can source as you are struggling in a particular area ie. Courage, Fear, Barriers to Overcome. This is a book for all ages and will compliment your library. You will never be able to relax again if you are truly passionate about attaining your goals. You better start reading now.
