Rosie Runs Away

Rosie's baby brother, Fat Mat, has taken over the household. Trying to help her tired mother, Rosie takes Mat out to make mud pies and pick blueberries. Mama is terrified at their disappearance, and dismayed when she finds them, muddy and blueberry-stained. . She sends Rosie to her room, but Rosie decides instead to run away. . .. 'Any child who has ever felt misunderstood or unappreciated will sense an instant kinship with Rosie,' said Publisher's Weekly about an earlier edition of this book. 'Beginning readers will have little trouble with the short sentences and large type, and young listeners will enjoy the pictures of Rosie and her sweet surroundings,' wrote School Library Journal.

5a sweet, wonderful book for any child  Sep 28, 2000

My 3 year old found this especially interesting when she was feeling a little jealous of her baby brother the way Rosie was of "Fat Mat". When Rosie tries to help her mother she causes her more problems so she decides to run away. In the end she realized that she is still loved and needed in her home and that she wants to be there, even with Fat Mat. This is a sweet little storybook, just right for child with a new brother or sister and the illustrations fit the story perfectly. Rosie and Fat Mat are precious! as is their stroybook home and garden. I highly recommend this book.
