1Frustrating read  Jul 17, 2010

This book should have been titled "Extreme Random Thoughts". The author may have a bad case of A.D.H.D. There are no chapters in this book, just non-stop change from one subject and time span to the next, changing almost every paragraph. I have read just about every firefighting based book out there and this is the first bad one. I hate knocking on a fireman who took the time to actually put pen to paper but I wish I didnt buy this one. If you do buy this book there are some very good fire scene and engine house life stories mixed in with stories about the author trying to get a home loan, how he is running for mayor, and then again about paying off bills and getting a SUV, etc etc.

5FDNY Firefighting 101  Nov 16, 2010
By Kevin P.Coenen Jr.
This book took years to write. If you would like to know just how it is to live in New York and work in New York City then purchasing and reading this book will give you an idea of the struggles that an average New Yorker faces. It describes just how to get into the F.D.N.Y. and the tests that you must pass along with the interviews that you have to go through in order to be assigned to the "Greatest Job in the World." It is a daily journal of the experiences that a firefighter goes through on-duty and off. To get the idea of what a firefighter goes through, you have to learn about off-duty experiences as well as on-duty experiences. If you would like to know what a fire is like, this book gives you that and a whole lot more. Of course, this book wouldn't be complete unless it described what one firefighter was going through and dealing with on September 11th, 2001. There is no book out there that takes you through the F.D.N.Y like this one does.
