In All That Getting get An Understanding May 31, 2010
By S. Manley Hello, I want to recommend Rick Morelan's Joes 2 Pros teaching aids as a must have in your quest to learn Microsoft SQL server 2008. I am currently a student In a 12 to 36 week Intensive program that teaches business intelligence. Learning SQL in a Microsoft environment is my goal and purpose but the instruction leaves me void of a complete understanding. The pace of the course; as you may already know is extremely fast; this is because most of these programs are set up just to make money off the BI and IT boom and If you are a novice or an enthusiast wanting to learn SQL you'll get swallowed up as the course progress through topics such as recursive queries, pivots, CTE, and the various joins: leaving you confused and frustrated.
Nevertheless, after failing several test in my BI course and after wanting to throw in the towel; I was up late one night contemplating about my next steps and I discovered Rick's Joes2Pros videos on YouTube; they were so clear and concise I knew then that I had to have them If I wanted to be successful in my course; that I already paid 19,000 thousand dollars for. I purchase Rick's DVD's and every one of his teaching aids I found on Amazon and I can tell you that this was the best move I made. If I knew any better I would not have taken the 19,000 Bi classes to learn SQL I would have just purchased Rick's books which are excellent teaching aids that cater to your overall understand of SQL server 2008 in a Microsoft environment. I have been help immensely I now understand joins and other concept that I had trouble with in my BI course which I now have learned from the Joes2Pros teaching aids; I know you would agree ;if you to made Joes2Pros the center piece of you SQL server collection.

Quality Continued Jan 21, 2010
By Mary E. Knowles I've been waiting for this second book to come out and now will continue to look for the rest of the series. What I really appreciate about this series is the easy to follow tutorials that don't confuse things with too much tech dialogue like I've seen in other books. Step by step guidance to understanding the premise of creating specific code and its application. The Points to Ponder enforce the rules surrounding the premise (also fabulous quick reference material). The teaching technique is simply great in this series. It truly speaks on a user friendly level. This is the only way to not only learn SQL, but to prepare for Microsoft Certification, since this series specifically uses that goal as a basic principle.

Wish I had this while getting my MIS Degree Nov 12, 2010
By D^2 Hands down this is an awesome book (and series)!!!! If you want to get ahead (level up) in your place of work buy these books as they become available; they're superior investments. I was fortunate to have been able to take Rick Morelan's Advanced SQL Course where I dicovered that he knows this stuff so well that he can come up with great examples on the fly, and do it with out "geek speak".

Complete your T-SQL learning experience! Jul 02, 2010
By Timothy Bochard
"Software Engineer"
This book picks up where the first book left off. The first book takes a measured approach to the basic syntax of T-SQL DDL, DML, DCL, and TCL. The first chapter in book 2 reviews what was covered in book 1, and then continues on more advanced topics. The same thoughtful, easy-to-read and practical approach to learning is used. You won't find better T-SQL training anywhere. So, whether you are learning the language for the first time, a pro who is just "brushing up" for an interview, or just need a ready reference, this two book series is a "must" for your bookshelf.

A Fantastic book for new students from a fantastic author. Feb 01, 2011
By G. Jimenez First off I am brand new to programming period and I am loving it. I truly believe Rick Morelan really wants to help students succeed not only in being proficent query writers but to be true sql server experts by making sql server simple to know and a joy to understand. This book has been a blessing and makes me so excited about learning programing and databases.I use to think that databases and programming were for geeks that had nine heads not anymore I understand this stuff!! every query that I write and execute successfully for me is like hitting the jackpot at a las vegas slot machine (it makes you shout YES!!)
The book is wonderfully layed out and so easy to understand. download the files off the website (also download a trial version of sql server 2008) view the videos from the website and you will be ready to learn sql and begin a new career doing this...Rick makes this fun.
I am so excited with sql queries that I ordered the first book, the dvd and vol 3. I am so determined to know sql server and pass my MCTS exams 70-432 and 70-433. if this is your goal as well this is the place to start.... begin with vol 1-3 and the dvd and you wont be disapointed.
