Sailing With Carol: A Love Story

Sailing with Carol is about love and sailing; a childhood romance, separation, and reunion. First playmates, we became sweethearts until in the turmoil of the sixties, we walked diverse paths. Reunited decades later, we pursued our dreams, living an enchanted existence for twenty-one years, sailing our boats to faraway places. During those voyages Carol mastered her fears and honed the resolve she would so desperately need in the final years of her life. From novice boater to skilled sailor, she dealt with life's extremes. Sailing became a metaphor for all other aspects of her growth as a woman and she became more confident in her seamanship and everyday life. As best friends, our union became symbiotic, especially when sailing. She became more comfortable with her sexuality, but also steered our boats in storms and stood by me to fight off thugs on a New York dock. She could be angelically innocent, or shamelessly seductive. She was all any man could want in a woman and partner.
