2Great Concept, Poor Execution  Mar 19, 2008
By Daniel McKinnon "Dan"
'Sam, the un-nutcracker' starts off with a great concept and I felt the first few pages in this could be one of Ms. Lee's best works. Sam's nutcracking arm no longer works and he now looks for something else to do since he is not able to crack nuts. The rest of the book has Sam going on an 'adventure' but I had to keep myself from falling asleep the rest of this book. The artwork was done seemingly in a quick manner and this book is just a major bore all around. I can't see kids getting very excited by the writing or artwork and it was a huge disappointment.

5Queen Gumdrop Rules!  Sep 06, 2006
By Avid Reader
I thought the nutcracker was my favorite non-religious Christmas figure but I think the amazing Queen Gumdrop has made me rethink that position! Love those purple shoes! Lovely colorful drawings and simple story for the very young child.
