Sandy the Wayward Cicada

Sandy the Wayward Cicada is about a young insect entering a world he is not supposed to. In waking up early from his 17 year nap, Sandy meets bugs; insects and animals that would like to hurt him and also help him. With the aid of friends he is able to overcome dangers and live to become a full adult and raise a family. The wonderful artwork and beautifully written heartfelt tale brings together science and nature in an uplifting and educational way that can parallel real life experiences. In the book you will meet Sandy the Cicada, a mean Preying Mantis, Claire the wise Spittlebug, scary Wasps, hungry birds and beautiful friendly Leafhoppers. They are all real life critters that accompany Sandy in his journey for better and worse. The story, along with the Fun Facts and Photos section will be a great sharing and learning experience for you and your kids.

The old saying, "You can't judge a book by its cover" doesn't hold true for this book. I purchased this based on the cover, and my grand daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Besides on how entertaining it is, filled with teriffic illustrations, it is also educational. I highly recommend it.
