Biased appreciation Aug 22, 2006
By John G. Davenport
"Lately-interested. ."
Disclaimer: I am a prior client of the author/counselor.
Notwithstanding that, this book provides the grist of his approach, which I enjoy for its thrust, ideas and provocations to think in depth. It is a very good adjuct to personal counselling from any source; its Jungian assumptions and tradition are stated up front and analyzed in their own right.
For any man who is seeking his roots, it is a good investment
Finding your grail Jan 05, 2010
By B. Whipps Search For The Grail tells the story of the hero Parzival as he travels through life. The author provides thoughtful insight and commentary as to how the metaphors in the story relate, in particular, to a man's life. I have read this book many times and it has helped me navigate through some of the most stressful events a person can experience in life. I was really surprised that a myth written 800 years ago was still applicable to life experience today. The book is particularly suited for book clubs as there are a number of questions at the end of each chapter. This book ended up being much deeper and helpful than I thought it would be. The author utilizes Jungian theory and relies on Robert Johnson's Inner Work practice to utilize dreams and develop the inner world.
Search for the Grail is a must read. Sep 06, 2007
