5Speaks from experience  Apr 13, 2009
By Diane D. Roehrig "Money for Business"
Pat Wesson is a clear, concise writer. She doesn't waste your time with convoluted verbiage or philosophy. She just puts good advice on the page. It is clear that this information comes from experience in helping small business owners.

5Very Informative  Apr 05, 2009
By Stephen M. Lentz
I learned a lot from this book about how to start a new business and get approved for a loan. I particularly liked Chapter 8 and Chapter 10, which tell about the calculations of different ratios (profitability, liquidity, asset utilization, etc.) and how lenders use them to evaluate applicants. The book is chock-full of useful and honest tips, like how much downpayment an applicant has to have in order to get a loan, and I believe I have a better understanding now of how I would turn my business idea into a reality.

5A must-read for aspiring entrepreneurs  Apr 05, 2009
By Kerri J. Tobin
I disagree with the first reviewer. Perhaps this book would be less helpful for seasoned business owners, but for beginners, it is perfect. It is clearly written and engaging, and contains crucial information for people wanting to start their own businesses. The author logically lays out, in plain language, the necessary steps required in applying for a business loan, from creating a business plan to understanding the "lender's language" -- what lenders are really looking for in applicants. It gives important insights for avoiding rejection by lenders, including secrets that only a financial insider could know. I have friends who have tried to start their own businesses, so I know how difficult it is. The positive but realistic tone of the book is encouraging and informative. I highly recommend it!

1Sophomoric Attempt  Jul 30, 2008

If you have prepared at least one business loan, don't buy this book. It's a waste of money. If you have never prepared a business plan, don't buy it anyway.
