5Just what I needed  Apr 01, 2007
Like the previous reviewer, I don't know much about computer hackers but I hear a lot about it on the TV. So I got this book and in just a few hours learned enough to protect myself. Now I'm a lot more careful whenever I go on the Internet. Worth the price.

5Easy read, no fluff, and all-in-one  Dec 10, 2006
I LOVE this book! I don't know much about computer or information security and was looking for something that doesn't require a technical dictionary to understand. The book is structured in a very easy-to-digest way (the chapter titles are hacker techniques with an explanation of each, and the subheadings tell you what you need to do). Some of the chapter headings are Shoulder Surfing, Phishing, Malware Injection, and Wireless Hacking. It is straight to the point and doesn't waste your time pondering over all that technical stuff that you don't what to know about - I read it in just under two hours. It basically covers everything that the average user needs to know. The table of contents also serves as an excellent refresher.

There only thing that I think users should be aware of before buying the book is that it really is for beginners, so if you have a good understanding of identity theft, password protection, and the usual stuff you hear about in the news then you don't really need it. Nevertheless, the book definitely deserves my 5 starts for what it promises to deliver.
