1Sales 101, Not Yoga Specific or Yoga Sensitive  Jan 14, 2009
By Ian Funk "FunkDaddy"
I was extremely disappointed in this book. The writing style is extremely simplistic, and there are many typos in the book. Beyond this issue, the actual content of the book is not what I expected.

He spends time giving extremely basic info about the background/practice of yoga. As a studio owner, I don't need this. I need good, insightful information about growing my membership and revenues.

He talks about how to prospect, close a sale and such. The problem is, this book is written like a basic sales 101 book for high pressure sales men and is not very yogic at all. If a respectable yoga studio used theses tactics I think they would offend many of their new and future members.

I do not recommend this book, unless you are someone who wants to run your yoga studio like a car lot, or like one of those big obnoxious corporate gyms that strong arms folks into becoming members.

5Saved my Studio!!  Jan 22, 2010
By Cat1970
This book helped me to double the business in my Yoga studio. It lists step by step how to increase my clientele and revenue. I read the book from beginning to end, then went through and actually followed the advice from the author. When I started my studio, I believed that teaching Yoga and understanding its philosophy was enough. I quickly learned that I was completely wrong. My belief in Yoga was strong, but this was not enough to cover the expenses of running a studio. I needed to make ends meet but still wanted to be a Yoga studio owner.

If I had not purchased this book and followed its advice, I would no longer be a studio owner. This book gave me the tools and taught me how to bring in new clients on a regular basis and gave me the knowledge to continue to grow my studio. I have turned my business around and am happy to say that I can do what I love and make a good living at it. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in starting their own studio or to anyone that may be struggling to keep their business going. Worth reading!!

5This book should be on your desk!  Jan 18, 2009

I was extremely happy to find a book that focused on sales in a yoga business. The writing style is extremely simplistic, and there are many great tips in the book. The actual content of the book is for yoga professionals who sell memberships in a studio.

The author spends time giving basic info about the background/practice of yoga. As an operator and owner of yoga studios all over Asia, he gives useful insight and information about growing my membership and revenues.

The Author spends time covering prospecting and how to close a sale. The main point of this book is written to instill fundamentals like a basic sales 101 book for the yoga professional. The author uses his vast experience from selling thousand of memberships in Yoga World Studios. Yoga studios have had an explosion overseas and Ron Thatcher used theses tactics to enroll thousands of future yoga members.

I the early days of running health clubs most operators made the same mistake that yoga studios are making now! Successful instructors thought that just because they were successful as instructors that they would be successful as business people. These two things have nothing in common! Why start your business from scratch when you can take information that has been garnered from thousands of membership sales professionals over a 30 year period! I recommend this book, to anyone who wants to run your yoga studio or sell memberships in a yoga gym.

5Must Read!!  Nov 23, 2008
By Fitness guru "Fitness guru"
This book discusses the Yoga business in detail: how to set it up, run it, and attract members and so on. I was a little disappointed as I was expecting more info on becoming successful as a Yoga instructor.

The book is good and is based on extensive personal experience of the author. He goes into a lot of detail on how to deal with everyday realities of the Yoga business. If you want to run a Yoga center, the information will be very useful. But not if you want to practice as an instructor.

I have been in the yoga business for 2 years and I've been just breaking even, until I received this book from a friend that has a Pure Yoga in Asia. I was doing what was wrong with most studios and trying to make it work. This book has given me a new perspective and by implementing just a few of the suggestions in this book, things are already turning around. My next 6 months should be very interesting. I would highly suggest this book for any owner even the ones that are making money, because you could always make more.

4Heart and Soul of Yoga Teaching.  Oct 20, 2008
By Michael R. Azzaline "MRAzz"
This is a nice book on the more fast pace selling of health and fitness as a big business. It gives insight into the pace and skills someone needs if they are out to make a lot of money on the yoga fad. However, being a more serious teacher of the heart and soul of yoga, it does not add much philosophically to the ethics of teaching and sharing in the traditions of yoga according to the great masters and gurus. I was left feeling that "making the sale and always be closing" are the most important aspect of the yoga business.Of course, this is the title of the book. This book is good for the yoga teacher and studio owner who will only be in the yoga business until the next great fad comes along.
