Shattered Innocence

Her innocence was shattered. Born into poverty and sold into service at a young age left Joslynn unprotected and at the mercy of Lord Raven and his family. Joslynn had no choice but to comply with her father's decision and the law of the land. Lord and Lady Raven and their two sons, Clayton and Connor were not close by nature. Clayton had always been kind, protecting her and the other servants from Connor and his cruelties. Lord Raven was a good man but ailing. Lady Raven had the same cruel nature as her youngest son and often displayed her dark side when the servants displeased her. When the letter arrived announcing the mysterious and untimely death of the oldest son, neither Lady Raven nor her youngest son appeared disturbed by the news. Joslynn did not know how she could face even one day with her beloved Clayton gone and his immoral brother left in charge of the family estate. With less than a year left in her service to the Raven's, Joslynn was not sure she could keep Connor away from her without Clayton there to prevent his menacing. Joslynn had no way of knowing what the future held for her. Her past obstacles would seem but a ripple compared to the tidal wave she must face to regain her freedom.
