Absolutely unequivocally worth every penny! Jan 05, 2010 Bar none one of the brick walls you hit when you get out of the military is "What Now?". Travis' book answers that question and more. It provides methods and options for a seamless transition from military life to a civilian one. It provides an in depth look at the multitude of pathways that are open for you. I was pleasantly surprised, as I thought this would just be someone trying to hawk his product and make a buck. What I found though was that Travis Burgdolf is extremely knowledgeable and extremely helpful. This book isn't like some information out there on the internet which will just basically direct you to job fairs and websites. The author meticulously provides the steps you need to go through if you are serious about assuming a career outside of the military. I like the fact that this gives the tools to utilize my military skillset in a civilian world. This is a must read if you are or ever have contemplated life after the military.
Simply outstanding! Sep 30, 2009 A comprehensive guide for everything you need to know before you make the jump to the civilian world. I have been there and done that. Buy this book before you make the move!
This Book Is For You! May 05, 2009 While I have no intentions of separating from the military soon, I know I will read this book again from cover to cover when I decide to do so. Speaking from the junior officer perspective with 12 years in the Air Force, I've witnessed several great Airmen separate from the military without a plan of action. While each person had their separate reasons for leaving, only few knew what their next step was going to be. This book was written for all service members (past, present, and future). The author discusses your military benefits and the importance of you using them while you're on active duty (i.e. Tuition Assistance); he provides a road map for a successful military career, and he lists an effective checklist of "must do" items to complete before transitioning out of the military into the civilian sector.
If you are presently wearing the uniform it is a fact that you will eventually have to separate or retire. While most of us will retire in our late 30's or early 40's, we will most likely need to pursue a secondary career. Especially for you, this book provides resume writing tips, mentions the importance of searching out your new job market, home location, and the impact separating from the military will have on your family and children.
Most importantly, the author wants all members to know their worth. In today's economy, corporations are looking for military members who bring experience and time-tested leadership. The skills and professional attributes we learn in the military will also transfer handsomely in our new professions. You may wonder what makes this book different from any other book written about transitioning from the military, and it only takes reading the book to find out. The author didn't leave any stone uncovered. It's up to you to make the most of the 4, 8, or 20+ years you plan to spend in the military. If you want to start right now, then don't delay: BUY AND READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
