Sol: A Legend About the Sun

Amorsolo loved the sun. Hoping to win her heart, he rides an enchanted rocking horse and serenades the sun. But the moon, too, was in love with the sun, and would not stand idly by... The story of "Sol - A Legend About the Sun" revolves around a young boy, Amorsolo, (which, roughly translated, is Spanish for 'only love') who was enamored by the Sun's splendor, at a time when it "used to shine not just with soft light but also with captivating beauty." This book is the result of a unique collaboration between Agay Llanera and Farley del Rosario, two of the best young writers and artists in the Philippines, respectively. Written in flowing, lilting prose and illustrated in del Rosario's signature naïf style, "Sol - A Legend About the Sun" was a finalist in the Romeo Forbes Children's Storywriting Competition sponsored by CANVAS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of Philippine art, culture and the environment.
