A real thinker, with twist and turns around every corner. Jun 21, 2008
By Christine Mcbryde Son of the Sword is sure to be a favorite amongst children and adults alike. Every page is full of excitement and adventure, humor and tragedy, and mystery and suspense. Reading each page leaves you wanting more. What will happen to our young hero, Ellum, and his friends? What sinister plan does The Jester have up his sleeve next?
This book is reminiscent of one of the greatest and most cherished legends ever told - The Legend of King Arthur and Excalibur. A true battle of good versus evil as young Ellum must learn to accept his destiny, to defeat The Jester's army, and restore good to all the land.
The author, Wesley D. Stein, has written this soon-to-be classic so that all may enjoy. It appeals not only to the fantasy reader, but also to the non-fantasy reader. Rather than throwing his reader into a menagerie of terms and names only an avid fantasy reader could appreciate, Mr. Stein keeps his story grounded, giving it a sense of realism. He weaves a tale of a great battle against evil, and restoring good to its rightful place, which is cleverly symbolic of the battle for Earth and mankind in the Bible. It mirrors the writing styles of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.

Great book Jun 02, 2008
By Sandi W I couldn't put this book down. I got so wrapped up in the story and kept wanting to know more. As a previous commenter said, this book is not just for young adults. I think people of all ages would enjoy the story. This is a great debut novel, and I suspect we'll see more books in the future.

Best Book of 2008 (so far) Jun 02, 2008
By Brooks Adams I bought this book, because a friend recommended it- but I am really not a fan of fantasy, or of leaving reviews. The story is so entertaining however, and blends real-world metaphysics with young-adult plotlines, that I found I couldn't put it down, and I had to leave a review. This book is for every age! Not just teens! It made me think for several days after reading it, not just about the characters (which are very real and engaging) but also the complex and potentially life-altering ideas at the sub-text of the story. A must read for any thinking reader who wants to be dumbfounded!
