Spirits of Wood Quay

Spirits of Wood Quay is a teen-age odyssey set in the Old City of Dublin in the year 2008. When Dennis O’Shea and Paul Hughes attempt to con old Michael Harrington out of a great treasure that is buried beneath his crumbling house on the banks of the River Liffey, they set off a train of events that catapults them into a terrifying world of Viking ships, warriors, slaves, and Gaelic chieftains. Not only do Dennis and Paul confront a past filled with plunder, war, and heroic feats, but they are forced to discover some disturbing truths about their own world of the present. Spirits of Wood Quay is a fast-paced thriller full of charm and wit. It weaves a powerful spell of magic and mystery that should appeal to the Harry Potter generation.

5How Happy I Am  Dec 05, 2010
By Book Lover "Book Lover, Reviewer of All Books"
My son was given this book for his birthday. He's not a great reader so I thought it would gather dust on the bedside table. Amazing. He read it in a week and passed it on to a friend. Said it was exciting and very funny. How happy am I.

5Really Cool Guys- straight from the mouth of a 4th grader.  Dec 15, 2010

This review is from my nephew:

I am in fourth class in Ratoath School and got this book from my uncle. Our school has a club that gives time off homework for every five books read. This was the best of my five. It didn't have too many pictures and it let me imagine what Dublin was like a thousand years ago. I hope there is another book with these guys (Denny and Paul) in it. They are really cool.

5Read It - You'll Like It  Dec 09, 2010
By Ella Stars "Ella Stars"
Denny and Paul are like a couple of young Harry Potters trapped in Dublin City. But it's Dublin a thousand years ago - with Viking ships and Gaelic Chieftains and a fearless young girl called Maire who takes on the invading warriors and wins. It's fast and thrilling and leads the reader on a merry chase through time and place. Read it - you'll like it.
