Still Breathing

The story of Colette Jackson, a 30 year old virgin who is married to a man 46 years her senior. Although Colette's life has many twists and turns, some bad, some good, Colette always sums it up by the fact that through all the ups and downs in her life, and no matter how bad things become, in the end she is still breathing. Colette was only 18 when forced into a marriage with the then 58-year-old widower Leroy Jackson, a close family friend. Owing Leroy a very large sum of money, which they could never afford to repay, Colette's parents, Larry and Darleen manipulated Colette into marrying Leroy. Knowing Larry and Darleen for the money hungry, conniving pair of no doers that they were, Leroy consents to the marriage only because he knows that if he doesn't marry Colette, her parents will marry her off to someone considerable worse than he, and knowing that he is old and too ill to be a real husband to Colette, he marriages her thinking that marriage to him would save Colette from a worser fate.

5Still breathing....A Winner!!!!  Jan 31, 2005
By Interracial Romance Collector
Colette Jackson is a twenty-nine year old woman who married a much older man to get away from her abusive parnets. A man almost thirty years her senior, because he offered to take care of her and her alocholic parents. But what Colette doesn't understand is why her husband never wants to make love to her.

They have never even slept in the same bed in all the years they had been married to each other. No matter how many ways she tries to seduce him into her bed, he won't come. To make up for not making love to her. Her husband takes her on all sort of romantic and unique trips. Colette loves the trips, but it doesn't make up for her thinking she's unattractive to her much older husband.

All while she trying to make her husband fall in love with her, Colette also has to fight off the advances of her stepson, who is the same age as her. She tells him repeatedly they are only friends, but he doesn't listen and promises revenge when Colette shuns him for the last time.

Feeling tired and worn out, Colette tries to get out of going to the trip to Alaska with her husand, but he talks her into it.
On the Alaksa trip, she can't keep her eyes off of the sexy tour guide Jean Luc, but she should because she's a married woman and Jean Luc is a white man.

Sensing that they need some time alone her husband takes her out sightseeing away from the group and gets killed while saving her life from a polar bear and her cubs.

Jean Luc notices that the couple is missing and tells the other tour guide to take the other guests back to the plane he'll find Colette and her husband, but in doing that gets snowed in with Colette in a small cramped cabin.

Still breathing is a wonderful novel about a young woman who has to learn the meaning of the word love before she knows how to give it back to the man she really loves. In addition, she finds out a great deal of things about her parents on the way to discovering who she truly is and having the strenght to fight for the man she has only truly loved.

It does take the book a little while to get to the IR part, but once you get there you will be gald you took time out of you day to read this amazing book.

5Different and refreshing!  May 25, 2005
By Tooty Fruity "Tiger lover"
I loved this book. It broke up some of the repition from the Interracial books I've been reading. Collette is a very strong woman. She faces the death of her husband, the greed of one step-son, the lust of the other step-son,the addictions and hatefulness of her parents, the unexplored feelings she has for her best friend's brother and the uncertian love she feels for Jean Luc, the Alaskan Expidition guide. Jean Luc goes through his own journey of emotional growth and transformations. There are lots of unexpected twists and turns in this novel. I loved "My Forever Love" and I love this book as well. Ms.Osahor has another winner. Another must have for your collection.

4This book was a great read!  Oct 21, 2005

It's a little different from what I usually read, but I liked it. I would have liked more love scenes, but the ones written were good.

Read it and enjoy!
