Stimulating Immune Function to Kill Viruses

The ability to stimulate the immune system to destroy viruses and other microbes is thought to be unavailable. In fact, in 1981 Dr. Julian Lieb published the first of nine articles on the immunostimulating and antimicrobial properties of lithium and antidepressants. Such observations are reinforced when the mechanisms are known. Prostaglandins are minute molecules that regulate the physiology of every cell in the body, including those subserving mood and immune function. When prostaglandins are produced excessively, they depress immune function and induce the replication of microbes. In the early 1970s Dr. Lieb’s late colleague, David Horrbin, M.D. showed that lithium and antidepressants oppose prostaglandins. Mankind cannot afford the neglect of this resource.
