Stinky's Tales represent a nostalgic trip to a gentler time in our nation Jun 25, 2005 I will have to admit right up front that Stinky is my husband. Readers must also realize that the book written by Bob Pearson, using his old nickname in the title, is awesome. He has compiled many interesting anecdotes from 1940-1960 Sodus, New York. The small and connected community provided numerous, wonderful tales.Bravo for Stinky! Jan Pearson
Nostalgia where have you been? Mar 10, 2005 I miss the period of time from which these stories are written and I'm not even from this era! Nostalgia has been successfully revived. The author of "Stinky's Tales" uses words to paint a picture so vivid you can't resist jumping in and losing yourself in a world which you may have never known. Pickup this book, read a few chapters, I promise you'll finish every page.

Stinky's Tales - Fond Memories of a Time Now Past Dec 21, 2004 Prior to reading all 500 pages of Bob Pearson's "Stinky's Tales", I had nearly dismissed as a choice reading for entertainment. The book returned me to a period when I found time to read instead of watching television. It returned me to a time of my youth, of growing up in the same little town in Upstate New York in which Pearson was reared. What he wrote was true to the letter regarding the feelings and closeness of the community during those years...years which I shall never forget and characters to whom he made reference that I also will not
forget. It was truly difficult to put the book down until I had finished reading it in its entirety, looking forward after each section to the next.
I would like to offer this correction to one reference made in the book regarding a young lad who had run over a girl with his boat following a water skiing outing. The young lad(four years her junior) was greatly enamored of the young lady to whom he referred and was on his way to pay her a visit, when she unexpectedly dived into the water from a raft and directly under his approaching boat, breaking the skeg off the lower unit of the engine as it cut her outer thigh to the bone. The young lad was scared to death but jumped into the water and towed her to shore to awaiting adult hands. I was that young lad! But, what he said regarding her willingness to reveal her battle scars to others was indeed true. Read it for yourself and enjoy all the
shenanigans and colorful characters of the time and the inciteful remarks made by Pearson in comparing the values of bygone years to those of the present.

Don't wait for the movie! Nov 26, 2004 Who knew 1950's rural NY was so alive with character?! The short chapters which comprise this book could be episodes from a nostalgic sit-com, like "The Wonder Years." It's astonishing the scrapes, misadventures and teenage pranks the author and his friends committed and endured. Mr. Pearson writes with a conversational tone, as if you were sitting around a dinner table with him, and yet his ability to describe the times and places of his youth makes you feel as if you were there.

Childhood Memories Nov 19, 2004 What a great collection of stories! This book not only reflects the author very well, it also prompts you to relive your own childhood. The detail in each of the stories is remarkable. The reality and humor included in the stories definitely keeps you interested and entices you to continue reading. These life stories represent a different place and era from my childhood, which makes the book even more appealing to me. I look forward to more from this author.
