Stories of Identity

Following in the footsteps of Old Friends and Other Stories, Stories of Identity examines unity and persistence in the personality of John Sherman through seven new stories. These new tales draw upon the themes of mystery, adventure, treasure, and friendship that were present in the earlier work; they also utilize the natural world and history to add texture to their shape. While retaining all those thematic elements from Old Friends and Other Stories, Stories of Identity extends them to include cosmogony, philosophy, man's spirit, religion, and the awakening of courtship and love through stories that examine Sherman's essential character through the lens of his own biography and other individuals from the past.
