4Sandy Mason leads off with a hit  Oct 24, 2008
I liked this book from the "get-go". Despite the fact that it's a murder
mystery, Mason never falls into the trap of being gruesome or overly
detailed regarding the murder. Instead, he focuses on the characters,
bringing a lightheartedness & touch of humor to his writing. I've read
similar books to this, but unlike the others, the characters in Storm Damage were more "real", and quite easy to relate to. I breezed though the book which never got bogged down or long winded.
Take note baseball fans; Mason parallels his story with the real-life
fateful October when the NY Yankees fell to the post-season destiny of
the Red Sox. Nice start Sandy Mason, keep up the good work.

5Fast moving homespun mystery tale  Oct 14, 2008
This mystery is a fast paced mystery with homespun humor. Recommend it for a vacation read or an escape during a cold winter weekend at home. Looking forward to the next adventure in Johnny's journey through life.

I picked up Storm Damage after reading that the author is originally from my hometown. The book is a great read, interesting and funny. A great testimonial to life long friends. I can't wait for the next in the Johny Donohue series to come out.

5Entertaining characters - Good read  Sep 29, 2008
I picked this book up as a quick subway read but soon became engrossed in the life and times of Johnny Donohue. I found myself missing my stop and wishing I was sailing instead of commuting to work. This "day in the life" story about the likable character Johnny Donohue takes you out of your ordinary routine and into a lifestyle we all envy just a bit, notwithstanding a suspicious death.
I enjoyed this book and look forward to more adventures and getting to know a bit more about what makes these charcters tick

5a fun, fresh read!  Sep 17, 2008
Storm Damage breaks out of the formulaic Grisham-mode, with life size characters that I can relate to at every level, and a fun plot that is true to life, not robo-written. Written as a fun fast read, Storm Damage brings real people into real places with the genuine edge of a page turning mystery. Clearly Mason has lived much of the life he writes about (including the beautiful girls in various states of undress on the boat!). He weaves real life events, classic literary allusions, and the all too real characters into a great read. I can't wait for the next one!

If you love a good story, and want a break from the ordinary, Storm Damage is a great getaway. I'm glad I found it, and you will be too. Mason's going places!
