Compelling Stories ! May 28, 2009
The author pulls you into his stories with descriptive narratives of a place and it's people that make the reader feel they are experiencing the stories. You feel the dampness and the chill, so vividly, that you feel you may have dreamed it. Some haunting tales that just won't let go. I loved it !

I don't tend to read short stories but this book is different. I was enchanted by each story. The scenery and characters jumped out at you. I could hear the story teller's voice as I read. All of the stories are centered on the islands surrounding Scotland and you can feel yourself in that place as you read.
I will be reading these stories over and over. I can't wait for John's next book.
